Our facilities include a spacious carpeted studio, kitchen, toilets and shower. We offer warm, modern, and comfortable surroundings in which to learn and practice yoga. Our studio is within walking distance of cafes and shops with plenty of parking, in a handy and easy to find location.

Our classes are offered in eight week blocks or terms. Reservations are essential, though casual option is available for open level classes when not fully booked. Please contact us for information on fees or which class is suitable for you.

Teachers at The Art of Yoga

 

Linsey Ann Smith has been teaching yoga since 2000, she is passionate about the benefits of yoga for a healthy lifestyle. Linsey incorporates her 14+ years of yoga practice, study and exploration, and 10 years teaching experience into her classes. She is committed to the wellbeing of the student, continual development as a teacher and sharing her love of yoga. Linsey lives with her partner and children in Helensville. With a busy lifestyle she would not be without the restorative and replenishing benefits of yoga.

Our Classes

 

The focus of our classes is on you, the student. Whether you are coming for relaxation, to relieve stress and tension, or to strengthen and tone the body it is always about you as an individual within the group session. Our classes are capped at 12 for Beginners or Intermediate level and 15 for Open level, with a spacious studio you will still find plenty of room to stretch even when classes are filled to capacity. Beginners may practice at your own pace or modify the postures with our suggestion. For more advanced students we will offer modifications or alternative poses to extend you. Open Level classes are 90 minutes duration with gentle warm up to begin, moving into more challenging poses, warm down, breathing exercises for energy and balance and deep relaxation of approximately 15 -  20 minutes to finish. The classes are designed by Linsey to leave you feeling refreshed, and revitalized.

 

 

Intermediate Level class takes place on Friday mornings at 7.00am – 8.00am. This class may be more challenging than the open level classes. However the emphasis is not only on postures/ the physical. This class is also designed for those who would like to explore the benefits of a deeper practice including some chanting and meditation. It will leave you relaxed yet energized for your day ahead. We recommend you take Open level classes for at least two terms before entering this class.

 

 

Natal Yoga

 

We take pregnant women in Open Level classes after week 12 of the pregnancy. We recommend that pregnant women participate in the Beginners Workshop first before attending Open Level classes or that you have some previous experience with yoga. You will gain many benefits from a gentle yoga practice through out your pregnancy if you follow your body’s messages and do not push beyond your limits. The breathing and relaxation alone offer many benefits to you and your growing baby and assist you through the pregnancy and birth. Please let us know before hand if you are pregnant and wish to attend classes at The Art of Yoga. Principle teacher Linsey is herself a mother of four and has practiced yoga during pregnancy.

 

To book your space in any of our classes please contact us for an enrolment sheet. Get your booking in early as classes can fill up quickly. Your place is not guaranteed until enrolments, accompanied by payment is received.

BEGINNERS WORKSHOP
